So just a little update... I'm 14 weeks along now, which means I have reached my SECOND TRIMESTER! I'm super excited about this and so thankful for our little growing baby! I'm feeling much better than before (aside from stupid face breakouts - any miracle tips??!!) - my nausea has let up a bit (or I've figured out what/when to eat), I really haven't been too tired, and my pants are starting to get a little snug to button :) I do have a tiny little bump, although I don't look pregnant, I just look like I need to do some crunches, but I'll take it! I'm definitely craving fruit and pickles/olives (not together), but that shouldn't surprise most of you! Next appointment is February 8, and we can't wait!
Brett and I had a great weekend! He and my dad have been working hard redoing and repainting the outside of our house, and I LOVE it! Pictures to come :) I was able to get together with an old friend, Michele, and her husband and PRECIOUS baby Bradley. It was great to catch up with them.
I was also so, so happy to see Patti!! She and Danny stopped by on their way through town to see our house, visit, and have dinner. Even though it was just a few hours, it was wonderful to see them. I think Patti knows more about my pregnancy and baby's development than I do, so I never worry if I get behind on my reading... Patti updates me :) The only bad thing is we were so busy catching up that we forgot to take a picture together, but there will be many to come!
Other BIG news...I'm so excited to finally be able to talk about! My good friend Jess and her husband Seth are also expecting (<--click on that word for a link to her blog), and she is due 2 weeks after me. I'm trying my hardest to get her to move back to Florida so these babies can play together :)

Babies R' Us!
While we were in Bonita, we went with Ian and Lauren to Babies R Us because they needed to look at a few things. This was Brett's first (of many) trips there, so of course I documented :)
Visiting Brett's family - 13 weeks along :)
Last weekend, Brett and I spent the weekend in Bonita Springs, FL to visit his grandma and aunt who live there. It turned out that we chose the perfect weekend, because his cousin Ian and his wife Lauren were also there that weekend. Ian & Lauren live in Savannah, GA and we wish we could spend so much more time with them, but we really enjoyed our weekend together! Lauren is expecting their first baby, a GIRL, in May (just about 10 weeks before I'm due!) so I really enjoyed all of my "baby talk" with her :)

Front row: Lauren, Grandma, Kacy
Our babies will be the first great grandchildren for Grandma Bladergroen...she is so happy for us and full of baby advice! Love her so much!

12 weeks
So here is a belly picture (12 weeks) that a lot of you have been bugging me about :)
I know I'm not showing a lot yet, but he/she is there!! Remember that 11 week post...? ;)
I'm not really one for bare pregnant belly pictures, but here is JUST one because you can actually see a little bump :) There are too many of you that I don't get to see often enough, so I'm putting this up for you!

Happiness...
I meant to put this up sooner, but this is happiness...coming home from work on the Monday after our big baby news weekend in November and seeing that my mom had made a visit to our house :) She knows me too well...
The saltines were a lifesaver.
11 weeks
This post is coming a little late....I am now nearing 13 weeks, but our 11 week visit was incredible! The visit was going to be "the heartbeat visit." At my OB's practice, they don't routinely do ultrasounds until 20 weeks unless necessary sooner, but of course we just wanted to see a picture of our little baby before then! As I was walking into my appointment, a close friend who is expecting texted me a picture of her ultrasound (she is due 2 weeks after me) which made me want my ultrasound even more!! I knew that just hearing the heartbeat would be wonderful, but then Dr. Pare had a little trouble finding it through the doppler (the machine they put on my stomach to pick up baby's heartbeat). Of course I got a little nervous, but he was so calm and said we'd check an ultrasound just to be sure everything was OK. He assumed he had trouble because of the position of my uterus and was very reassuring. I was going to get my ultrasound after all, but at this point I was nervous and excited at the same time. Brett, my mom, and his mom were all at the visit to hear the heartbeat, but only 1 person could come in the ultrasound with me. Daddy-to-be came in, and seeing our baby on the big screen on the wall was more amazing than words can describe :) As soon as I saw baby, I begged the tech to "just show me the heartbeat," and there it was, fluttering away, and then I lost it...the tears flowed! She spent several more minutes just letting us look at our baby (and checking to be sure there "weren't any siblings hiding." There weren't, we are just having one!) Baby was moving arms and legs, rubbing his/her face, and even did a little flip. I've seen lots of ultrasound pics, but had no idea that there was already that much movement! After she finished getting the measurements and heartbeat for Dr. Pare, she let both of our moms come in to watch the big screen :) I'll never forget those amazing 20 minutes....Here is one of the pictures of our little blessing. (Head on the left, hands by the face, body to the right with knees bent up...)
Next appointment is February 8, maybe I'll have another picture of Baby Bladergroen!

Christmas 2010
On Christmas morning, Brett and I woke up early to head over to my mom and dad's to exchange gifts and see what Santa brought everyone (I was only OK with NOT waking up at my parents' house because we do live across the street!) After opening gifts, we had a huge breakfast then relaxed for a bit. That afternoon, we went to Brett's family's house to exchange gifts and have a late lunch, then back to my parents' for more food :) It was a perfect day with a few little gifts for baby as well!

We had a low key New Years this year...I was on call and restaurants around here are so crowded, so we stayed in and Matt and Jane (soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Hooks!) came over to celebrate with us. They cheered with champagne, I cheered with sparkling white grape juice...Here's to a WONDERFUL 2011!
Thanksgiving 2010
We had so much to be thankful for this year, and we celebrated Thanksgiving at my mom and dad's with Brett's family too. The food was delicious, the company was great, and the weather was perfect for some pictures :) Here are a few from that day...

We're Having a Baby!
I had been feeling a little under the weather with a cold and lots of nausea, and though I was hopeful that my nausea was more than just a virus, I didn't want to get my hopes up too much :) The UF/ South Carolina football game was the next weekend, and Brett and I had decided it would be better to go up early on Saturday morning so that I could get a good night's sleep on Friday. That Friday at work, I was queasy all day and even got sick after seeing patients who...didn't smell like roses. When I got home from work, I took a pregnancy test and was so so happy when it was POSITIVE! I was absolutely ecstatic, ran to the store to buy another pack just to be sure (all three held good news!), and couldn't wait for Brett to get home from work. He was just as excited as I was, and we immediately went out shopping to find something to let our families know the great news (my parents were already at the farm near Gainesville, otherwise I may not have been able to help but run across the street to tell them)! I ended up making little onesies that I decorated with a green gator (for gameday of course) and wrote "I Love my Grandma/Granddad." After a restless night from excitement, we headed out early for Gainesville and showed up to the farm with "gameday treats" for my mom and dad in gift bags. I will never, ever forget my mom's face and pure happiness as she opened her bag and realized what the gift meant...
Dad hadn't opened his as quickly, and so at first was confused as to why Mom and I were crying, laughing, and hugging. Once he realized he was going to be a Granddad, he was just as happy! He even got a little choked up, then had a quick heart to heart with Brett about being a dad :)
We went in to Gainesville for the game, and mom showed Scotty and Jeremy (the uncles to be) and then we showed Kacey (the aunt to be) the onesies and all three of them were so happy for us :) The outcome of the Gator game wasn't so great, but with our exciting morning, it made the loss a little less painful! On our way home on Sunday, we stopped by my inlaws' to give them their "gifts," and the excitement started all over again :)
